About This Design

Mug

Cluaran is Scottish Gaelic for thistle. One side of the mug says cluaran and the other side of the mug says thistle. The thistle is the national flower of Scotland. The original art was done by hand with watercolour, colored pencil and pen. The artwork was scanned into the computer where I used InDesign to design the mug and place the text and painting. In Scoltand's culture, identity and history, the thistle is symbolic of endurance, bravery, determination, loyalty and courage.
