Mushussu Dragon Poster
This art is inspired by the Gate of Ishtar of ancient Babylon, c. 575 BCE, and shows the serpent-dragon Mushussu. This hybrid creature has a scaly body and head like a reptile, a lion's front legs, hind legs with raptor's feet and a scaled lion's tail. In addition to all this he sports both a curved horn and an upright one on top of his muzzle. Mushussu was Marduk's dragon and is also known from the Old Testament of the Bible as the monster that Daniel fought and managed to kill by poisoning him.
