This magnet shows the fishing waterfront of Muttrah, one of Muscat’s historic maritime districts. The old harbor sits beneath rugged hills guarded by Muttrah Fort, first established by the Portuguese in the 1580s and later rebuilt under Omani rule. Fishing boats, the Corniche and nearby souq continue to connect the district with Muscat’s long trading and seafaring history.
