Namdapha National Park India Travel Postcard

Namdapha National Park India Travel Postcard

Namdapha National Park, located in the remote northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, India, is one of the country’s most biodiverse and least-explored protected areas. Spread over nearly 2,000 square kilometres, it encompasses a vast range of altitudes—from tropical lowland rainforests at 200 metres to alpine meadows above 4,500 metres—making it one of the few places in the world where tropical, temperate, and alpine ecosystems coexist. This altitude gradient supports an exceptional diversity of flora and fauna, earning Namdapha a place within the Eastern Himalayas biodiversity hotspot. The park is part of the larger Namdapha Tiger Reserve, and is bordered by Myanmar to the east, adding to its ecological significance. Namdapha is one of the only places on Earth where all four large wild cat species—tiger, leopard, snow leopard, and clouded leopard—are believed to coexist, although sightings are extremely rare due to the dense forest cover and rugged terrain. The park is also home to endangered species like the Hoolock gibbon (India’s only ape), red panda, Asiatic black bear, and over 400 species of birds, including hornbills and tragopans. Despite its ecological richness, Namdapha remains relatively undeveloped in terms of tourism infrastructure, attracting only the most adventurous travelers and researchers. For those willing to venture deep into its misty forests and fast-flowing rivers, Namdapha offers a glimpse into one of the last great untouched wildernesses of the Indian subcontinent.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
