From the Hebrew prayer, Mi Ha'Ish ("Who Is the Man"), sung at Shabbat services in many synagogues. This piece is printed from an original artwork calligraphed with a flat brush by Melissa Dinwiddie in flame colours on black paper, with blue, green, and turquoise coloured pencil outlines. The artwork says: "Guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit," from the full text of Mi Ha'Ish. (Transliteration of Hebrew: MI HA'ISH Mi ha'ish Hachafetz chayim Ohev yamim Lir'ot tov Netzor leshoncha meira Us'fatecha midaber mirma Sur meira Va'asei tov Bakesh shalom Verodfeihu. English Translation: WHO IS THE MAN Who is the man Who desires life Who loves all his days To see good Guard your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit Turn away from bad And do good Seek peace And pursue it.)
