This party invitation card features two decorative garden concrete boots on a concrete base. The association with New Year is through the practice of 'First Footing' common in Scotland and Northern England. The 'First Footer' is the first person in a house on New Years day, immediately after midnight on New Years Eve. The first footer would be expected to bring a gift to ensure good luck for the house. New Year's Eve is celebrated around the world but the Scots have their own name for it - Hogmanay. Immediately after midnight it is traditional to sing Robert Burns' Auld Lang Syne.
