    Northern Goshawk Tie

    The northern goshawk, which is found primarily in northern and mountain forests, is the largest North American member of the accipiter group of hawks. An adult goshawk is 21 to 26 inches long with a wing span of 40 to 46 inches. Females are usually larger than males. The bird derives its name from its use in falconry by Anglo-Saxon nobility; the goshawk was their bird of choice to hunt the wild goose.
