Our mission is to improve the health and survival of the Northwest's most vulnerable babies and is based on the belief that every baby deserves access to human milk. Who We Are: We are a group of dedicated staff and volunteers who carry out our mission through the safe collection and distribution of human donor milk, education, advocacy, and research. What We Do: Screen donor mothers for their health. Pasteurise donated breastmilk and test it for bacteria. Distribute safe donor milk by prescription to infants when their own mother’s milk is not available. Why We Do It: NWMMB envisions a Northwest region where every baby has access to the human they need. Breastmilk (including donor milk) increases the health and survival of babies. Research shows that for premature, ill, and vulnerable infants, breastmilk shortens hospital stays and can prevent serious complications. When a mother’s own milk is not available, donor milk plays a vital role.
