Obama Carp T-Shirt

The Asian Carp are in the Chicago Ship Canal just downstream from the “electric fish barrier” ready for their chance to head upstream and into Lake Michigan, waiting for a power outage or a flood. Once they get into the Great Lakes ecosystem they will disrupt the food chain and then the future is grave for salmon, trout, walleye and other sport fishing, and the economies they support. We are talking about destruction of the tourism-based economies for EIGHT Great Lakes States and Ontario! The inability of our federal government to effectively deal with this threat is disgusting. We have tried judicial solutions through the Supreme Court and were rejected. Congress is debating legislation but while they fiddle the carp are swimming upstream. This is an emergency and we are out of time! But the solution is simple! President Obama MUST issue an executive order to permanently close the all of the Chicago canals NOW. He can use some of his stimulus funding that we are being taxed for to recompense the canal industry in Chicago, and create on over-land trucking industry there. It is a no brainer! We just had an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which threatened commercial fishing and tourism. And the White House sure did jump to take measures to mitigate that disaster. In a few years the effects of that matter will be gone. These Asian Carp are an even greater threat to the commercial fishing and tourism economies in the Great Lakes, because the Asian Carp, and other new invasive species that swim up the Chicago Canals will be here to stay. A way of life will be destroyed, permanently. If these fish get into our Great Lakes because this Presidential Administration fails to close off those canals in time, the fish must thereafter be called “Obama Carp” to memorialise the administration that wrecked the Great Lakes ecosystem and tourism economy.
