The historic New Horizons spacecraft is on a journey that will take it from the Solar System to the distant stars, perhaps even encountering other lifeforms in the distant future. New Horizons completed its planned mission to Pluto in 2015, imaging a stunning heart shaped feature on the dwarf planet plus its moon Charon. For the new year of 2020, New Horizons visited the Kuiper belt object Ultima Thule, a billion miles beyond the orbit of Pluto. After possibly visiting another distant body in the Kuiper belt, New Horizons will enter interstellar space on a never ending journey to the distant galaxies.
