Most Wisconsinites and Badgers fans don't realise that the term, "On Wisconsin!" was actually a battle cry by a young Arthur MacArthur at the Battle of Chattanooga in the Civil War. When the colour bearer of the 24th Wisconsin regiment fell, 17-year-old "Little Mac" grabbed the American flag and yelled the now famous line which cheered the Wisconsin boys on to victory....and he received the Medal of Honour for his valour.
