In the 1630’s a phenomenon named ‘’Tulip Mania’’ took hold in the Netherlands. Tulips became so highly prized that the price of a single bulb soared, and markets crashed. The bulbs themselves were even traded much like currency. The centre of a tulip is velvet in texture and almost black in colour. This is said to represent the heart of a lover that is fired with passion!
