Another piece from my Myths & Mermaids show at Pop Gallery Orlando at Downtown Pandora is a new painting based on the "Pandora's Box" myth. In my interpretation, she has already opened the box and behind her is a scene inspired by mediaeval monsters and demons along the lines of Hieronymus Bosch, Bruegel, and Huys (representing the evils of humanity released from the box). Amidst all the chaos, the last critter out of the box is "Hope" - which I have chosen to represent as a glowing butterfly. The butterfly and the innocence of Pandora's soulful dark eyes make this a painting of hope, despite the evils of the world. I originally ordered this print in a larger size but was not pleased with the clarity of it. When I contacted Zazzle, they responded really quickly and were very helpful. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it.
