Paris Wine Shop Postcard

Original oil painting by California artist, Susan Payne-Trutna. It is impossible to stroll down Rue de Buci without noticing the intense crimson facade and "airmail envelope" framed windows, and posters in the Nicolas wine shop. Many famous painters and illustrators including Iribe, Loupot, Cassandre, Brunhoff, and Derain have created advertisements for this well known chain. Although I was initially drawn to this boutique because of its spirited style and colour, the ornate grill work on the neighbouring door on the right and the casual "I heart Paris" sweatshirt hanging from an awning on the left made me want to capture this scene on canvas even more...
