Easy to customise reception menu. Peacock and Peonies (early 1840s) by Hiroshige is a vintage Japanese fine art wood block painting featuring a beautiful peacock bird with peony flowers in bloom. This image originally came from a woodblock print. About the artist: Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) (aka Andō) (1797-1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, one of the last great artists in that tradition. Hiroshige was a member of the Utagawa school which comprised dozens of artists, and stood at the forefront of 19th century woodblock prints. Hiroshige is especially noted for using unusual vantage points, seasonal allusions, and striking colours. He adapted Western principles of perspective and receding space to his own works in order to achieve a sense of realistic depth.
