The Penn Central Railroad was created as a response to challenges of railroads in the late 1960s. This poster was created to promote A Ladies Day Special Round Trip Fare any Wednesday or Thursday from Philadelphia Pennsylvania to New York City. The merger of The New York Central Railroad and The Pennsylvania Railroad on February 1, 1968 was supposed to Improve rail service, both freight service and passenger service. It also was to Strengthen capabilities for National Defence, and Provide more modern equipment. The American financial system was seriously shocked when after only two years of operations, Penn Central Railroad declared bankruptcy on June 21, 1970.
