Penpont World War 1 Memorial Card
This evocative card features a black and white photograph of a World War 1 memorial of a soldier standing on a stone plinth silhouetted against a cloudy gray sky. His head under the round metal cap is gently bowed and his gun reversed as he remembers his fallen comrades. The emotive bronze sculpture is located at the east end of the little village of Penpont in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, UK. Cast in bronze in 1920 by Glasgow sculptor William Kellock Brown (1856-1934), 41 names of the war dead are listed from WW1 and 9 from WW2. I’ve titled the photograph Lest We Forget, a phrase which came into common usage in the aftermath of World War 1 and is still used today in Remembrance Day ceremonies and on war memorials. The phrase, a reminder not to forget the sacrifice of lives lost in war, originated in ‘Recessional,’ a poem by Rudyard Kipling.

Very lovely garden flower design on dark green background. The design is inviting! Hard to refrain from using them up the minute they arrive. Rich dark hues on heavyweight cardstock. The flower design is bright and really pops against the dark green background. I love these cards!

I love the detail of the art and the explanation inside of each sorrow. I hoped the pictures would be a little bit bigger. It was very hard to see each one in the beginning, and my eyes had to adjust. But overall awesome, thanks so much for this!! Printing was good. Just make sure to go thru it again. In 3: change the word lost to “at the loss” and then after number 1 Hail Mary, there are two ”y’s” after that delete if you want to delete those to make it cleaner.
