3rd Infantry Soldiers render honours as fire fighters and rescue workers unfurl a huge American flag over the side of the Pentagon during rescue and recovery efforts following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack. The flag, a garrison flag, was sent from the US Army Band at nearby Fort Myer, VA. The terrorist attack on the Pentagon killed 70 civilians and 55 military personnel working for the Department of Defence inside the U.S. military headquarters.
