Perseus Rescuing Andromeda Poster
This is a reproduction of Perseus Rescuing Andromeda of 1513 by Piero di Cosimo. This Florentine Renaissance artist was forty-seven when he created this masterpiece. He was heavily influenced by the Dutch master Hugo van der Goes and was in Rome in 1481 and the next year completing several works based on classical mythology. In later life he came under influence of Savonarola and lived an eccentric reclusive life. He was a famous portraitist and often designed pageant and processions, particularly for the youth of Florence. He died in 1522 aged sixty years. This particular is an oil on panel and measurs 27.6 inche high by 48.4 inches wide. It is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
