Many of the names I do in my personalised designs today are done because I initially got a request for a design. My sixth series of personalised products using a nice Blackletter font that reminds me of designs I have seen on early 20th Century sheet music for classical pieces. The capitals have nice lines added to them for extra flair, yet not so much - as you get in some typefaces - that it severely reduces legibility. Of all the blackletter fonts I have seen, I think this one strikes a good balance between clarity and classical elegance. To give it a richer look, I have made the type in two shades of the same colour rather than one, the edges of the letters a deeper hue. Although the effect is evenly spaced, it gives that subtle impression of letters first contoured and then filled in, adding to the organic quill on parchment look I have been going for. As the templates I use for this are standardised for names of any size, I apologise if shorter or longer ones might be slightly off balance in some designs. I try to make my templates universal for a series of designs, but it's not always easy, particularly on curved objects like clocks and watches. In some cases, it will look better if you enlarge the name or move it up or down a tad, so please experiment to find the ideal position and size.
