Peter Iredale Shipwreck, Oregon Coast Plaque
The Peter Iredale was a four-masted steel barque sailing vessel built in Maryport, England, that wrecked on the Oregon shore on October 25, 1906. It was owned by a British shipping firm named Iredale & Porter, & was en route to the Columbia River but abandoned near Fort Stevens in Warrenton, Oregon (near Astoria). There is still some wreckage visible & it is a popular spot to visit on the North Oregon coast, & at low tide you can get up close. Photo taken March 2016.
