Pharmacy - From soda to medicine Notebook

The origins of the first soda fountain, is the pharmacy. They used to to help you swallow the medicine they gave you. They would set up stools and the pharmacy, like the general store became a hang out. Eventually they stopped adding medicine and narcotics to soda and it was just flavored. From there, it became its own thing, selling ice cream, cake and candy and from there it became a bottle in your fridge. But it started in a place like this. No frills, but it was bubbly and new and interesting. Certainly more interesting then taking a spoonful of yucky medicine.
