This sticker was designed to teach the letter SOUND. We read by the letter's SOUNDS, mostly. Yes, the letter's names are important to learn, but the SOUNDS are taught first. Teachers and speech-language pathologist concur. When we learn all the basic sounds of the alphabet, we can then begin to blend the sounds together to make a word. This method is extremely simplified from all the other videos you see online, or many schools use the 3-4 step method also. While many children have benefited from the 3-4 step method, this method is a sure winner for everyone to learn. This interactive lesson asked for ONE thing, "WHAT IS THIS LETTER'S SOUND! But it is asked in an informal, tutor style. It gives the learner the opportunity to repeat the SOUND, but immediately it is given the correct sound, with a praise word, "GOOD!" They either got it correct, or they heard the correct answer. It is only one minute long. Some days you can have your learner review by interacting with it for only15 seconds. We also teach it, right in the video. Review is essential to learning, as all teachers would agree. When you get the idea of how to sing this PHONICS SONG, sung to the tune of the Alphabet Song, BUT ONLY sing the SOUNDS! Then you can sing them anywhere. Of course, you will want to show the corresponding letter at times. We never mention the picture behind the letters. The pictures are a "sort of" subliminal clue for the sound of the letter. This method was designed by a USA teacher, with a background in speech-language pathology, art, and music. The MISSION: HELP END ILLITERACY. It breaks our hearts to see an 8 to 18 to 48 year old people not being able to sound out a simple word like "cat"! There are thousands above thousands in our country who are at that level.
