Piazza Navona at night under full moon - Rome Postcard

This postcard features Piazza Navona in Rome at night beneath a full moon, with the Fountain of the Four Rivers, obelisk and Sant’Agnese in Agone forming the illuminated centerpiece. The long shape of the square preserves the footprint of Domitian’s ancient stadium, while its Baroque character took form under Pope Innocent X in the seventeenth century. Bernini’s fountain, unveiled in 1651, gathers four river gods around the obelisk opposite the church shaped by Rainaldi and Borromini.
