Pierre-Auguste Renoir - Child with Cat Tile

Pierre-Auguste Renoir - Child with Cat Tile

Julie Manet / Child with a Cat (L'Enfant au chat), 1887 - Pierre-Auguste Renoir, oil on canvas. Pierre-Auguste Renoir (Limoges, 1841 - Cagnes-sur-Mer, 1919) was a French Impressionist painter. In 1887 Berthe Morisot and her husband Eugène Manet, brother of the painter Édouard Manet, commissioned this portrait of their daughter Julie, then aged eight or nine. Renoir made at least four preparatory drawings and moved away from his first, more frontal idea. Julie later recalled that he painted it in small sections, unlike his usual way of working. The clear outlines belong to his Ingres-influenced phase: Degas complained about the round faces, while Morisot admired the new direction.

My fiancé and I were happy when we received the tile. It’s Peru and was worth paying extra for expressing postage. Good quality and it is exactly like we wanted it. We are very pleased.
