Sophia Chiostri was the daughter of famous artist Carlo Chiostri. She became as famous as her father with her vivacious postcard depictions of Pierrot, Pierrette and Harlequin. This image shows a tall, elegantly dressed figure stands on an arched line, hands covering their face in apparent sorrow, while a smaller couple embraces in the background. The contrast between the large, dark-clad figure and the diminutive pair on a pale background creates a poignant composition.
