Sasquatch is the name given by the Coast Salish Natives of British Columbia to a hairy humanoid sometimes encountered in the forest, The name "Sasquatch" means "wild man of the woods." Sasquatch or Big Foot is a legendary creature whose existence has yet to be proven, described as a large hairy ape-like humanoid creature said to live in wilderness areas of the United States and Canada. The Lakota call Bigfoot Chiye-tanka or Chiha-tanka, "chiye" means "elder brother" and "tanka" means "great" or "big". In English, though, the Sioux usually call him "the big man".
