The beaches around Newquay on the north Cornwall coast are well known, not only for their beauty, but also for the surf. Surfing in Newquay is popular and world class competitions are held here. The best known beaches are Fistral Beach (North and South) and Watergate Bay. This photograph was taken in July 2014 on a beautiful midsummer day when the beach was almost deserted.
