This design features a painting by the Italian artist Giovanni Segantini (1858–1899). It shows a man who has recently died. He is lying on a bad, and he appears to be sleeping or resting: his eyes are closed and he seems to be completely at peace. It is a touching scene of a painless and natural death. Nearby there is an overhanging plant with long green fronds, symbolising life in the midst of mortality, and there are flower petals on the man's bedsheets. The original painting was completed in 1886.
