Portuguese tiles in blue and yellow for Christmas Wine Gift Bag

The word azulejo stems from Arabic roots, meaning “small polished stone”. Ceramic tiles are deeply embedded in Portugal’s history and culture. They are everywhere inside and outside old buildings. Today, it is common to see them decorating restaurants, bars, railway and subway stations, and regular homes. They are also used in interior decoration. Antique azulejos were decoration was initially dominated by blues and whites, and then yellow and green. This seamless tile pattern was inspired by Portuguese tiles that can be found in the Porto district. The colours blue and yellow are my favourite combination. Probably old tiles artisans were inspired by the blue Atlantic ocean, the yellow of the sun, or gold.
