The praying mantis is a fascinating species, and I enjoyed creating this piece. Large mantids can and do hunt small birds, snakes and mammals. And unfortunately for the male, the female takes predation to the next level, cannibalizing him after mating. Not a pretty lifestyle, but a very impressive insect to behold, and a really cool subject to paint!

I was able to reorder the print in a smaller size and it was shipped to me within a couple of weeks. The print was packaged well to ensure there was no damage during transit (Eco friendly, too!), and I am really pleased with it. I am so grateful to the customer service team for the professional way they handled my order. I had this printed on matt finish card and I was really pleased with the quality. The colours were rich and the image sharp.
