Monastery Ruins at Eldena
"Monastery Ruins at Eldena," also called "Ruins of Eldena, near Greifswald" was painted by the great German Romanticist artist Caspar David Friedrich in 1885. The ruins were located near Greifswald, Germany, which was Friedrich's home town. The original painting is a 35 × 49 cm (13.8" × 19.3") oil on canvas and is in the collection of the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) in Berlin, Germany. These beautiful and haunting ruins can be seen in many of Freidrich's paintings.
