Psalm 1 in the Bible gives us the secret of being truly blessed - It encourages us to read the bible and walk in the ways of the Lord and thus becoming truly blessed! The picture of a man reading Psalm 1 in Hebrew Bible is inspired by verses 1-3 of Psalm 1: “1) Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. 2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in His law he meditates day and night. 3) And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper”. The man in the painting reads God's word (The Bible) and is spiritually watered, his feet in the water symbolise this too. This man becomes like the tree on the right, fruitful and firm in his life for the glory of the Lord.
