Commonly refered to as the prairie rattlesnake it is actually a pale montana rattler. Where I live in south east Alberta, Canada the rattlesnakes den in the sink holes and caves along the valley of the South Saskatchewan River during the winter then move out onto the flatlands to fatten up on rodents in the summer.
