The wizard, Ramoran represents the element, Radon in Magical Elements of the Periodic Table. Ramoran can control radio waves easily. He can listen in on conversations, read messages sent wirelessly, and access electronic data. He can even make electronic devices stop working temporarily with electromagnetic pulses. He can also focus radio waves into powerful beams that can heat up or melt things he aims at. When radon gas decays, it emits radioactive radiation. There are three types of radiation; Alpha, Beta and Gamma radiation. Gamma radiation is the most penetrating, it can get through air, and even thin metal. That is why lead vests are worn when getting teeth x-rayed. The largest natural source of radiation exposure to humans is radon gas. Radon only has a half-life of about 3.825 days. Despite that it will be present on earth for several billion more years because it is constantly being produced as a step in the decay chains of uranium and thorium. High levels can be dangerous to human health. Major parts of the earth’s crust consist of uranium. Soils and various building materials contain it. The radon gas that can be “exhaled” from building materials like concrete, marble, paints and gypsum can deposit in houses and buildings where it can be easily inhaled by us.
