Reptile Warfare Poster

A rustling noise caught my attention one morning in Hawaii, and poking my camera slowly in through the leaves, I caught this battle between two different coloured anoles. The dark one had a large amount of vile-looking, gooey saliva in his mouth, and the green one has some as well; it is just barely visible. This is an introduced species of lizard (or Anole.) I had labelled this photo as "Gecko Wars" in another location, until I realised these weren't geckos. I wish I had had a movie camera with me or my SLR camera because the fighting sequence was pretty amazing. Enlarged, it could make quite a horror movie. I've had to console myself that I had any camera and that I caught the slight rustling noise over the sound of the ocean breaking on the shore. This location is very close to the beach on the island of Lanai (Hawaii)
