I love the little ethnic shops around Washington. Russian in this case, but there's also plenty of Chinese and Japanese, Indian, Mexican, German, and so forth. Never more than a stone's throw away from interesting titbits from another culture, and, usually, the delight of another language as well. I will never understand the mindset of those folks who think we have to protect America by ostracising those who bring over parts of their original culture. There are insular cultures in the world -- ones who strive to maintain purity by refusing to mingle with other mindsets -- but America is meant to be the polar opposite of that! If a person is willing to respect our laws and doesn't try to dissolve the culture we've already got here, I welcome them :D
