As the description says, this is not real wood but shiny plastic. It came wrapped in plastic, but the box was only taped one time and was open when it arrived. So far, it seems to keep time okay. The hands on the clock are black, but have several dings in the paint. Overall, I would not order this again and would splurge for real wood. It is correct. I may have spent some more time choosing a different font.
