Sainte-Dévote Church Monaco Postcard

Sainte-Dévote Church is a historic chapel dedicated to Saint Devota, the patron saint of Monaco. Nestled in the valley of the Gaumates within the district of La Condamine, this charming 11th-century church carries profound cultural and spiritual significance for the Principality. It is famously situated near the opening turn of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit, making it a globally recognised landmark where historic architecture meets modern-day spectacle. The church features a beautiful, understated facade that stands out against the dramatic cliffs and steep urban landscape of Monaco. Every year in January, the traditional burning of a symbolic boat takes place right outside its doors, a moving ceremony attended by the Princely family and locals alike to honour the martyr’s arrival on Monaco's shores.
