The Amazon rainforest is burning, and with it the ecosystem that generates 20% of the oxygen we breathe. If this precious biome resource is destroyed for farming, logging and ranching, the worst effects of global warming will ravage the climate to raise temperatures worldwide, inundate shorelines and create droughts in the breadbaskets of the world. Untold millions of exotic animals will lose their jungle homes and disappear, along with the displacement of hundreds of native Amazon tribes. Amazonia covers a vast area of South America, including Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana and French Guiana. Help raise awareness and support environmental movements that are working to protect the ancient rainforests of the Amazon basin of South America.
