In the Dreaming old man turtle was swimming at the bottom of the great ocean close to the white dunes when a small bream fish approached him in a panic . The bream fish explained to the old turtle that Mako the shark was chasing him and wanted to eat him up. “Hide me! Please” pleaded the little fish. The old man turtle was really the great Father Spirit Baiame only pretending to be a turtle. But when the old man turtle looked around there was only sea grass waving in the current below them. The old man turtle thought for a moment and then seeing the mighty Mako approaching he quickly turned the little bream fish into a seahorse. The little bream who now was a seahorse swam down into the sea grass and wrapped his tail around a waving leaf. Mako swan around the old man turtle looking for the little bream but he was no where to be seen. After some time Mako gave up and swam off. The little bream who was now a seahorse called to old man turtle “ thank you for saving my life but what shall I do now without my brothers and sisters?” asked the seahorse. The old man turtle not wanting the little seahorse to be lonely also turned his brothers and sisters into seahorses as well. Today seahorse continue to live at the bottom of the great ocean holding onto the waving grasses on the sea bed safe from Mako that happens to pass by.
