Unique rock formations called the Siamese Twins resemble two giant, weathered statues standing against a clear sky in Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The setting sun casts a warm glow on the landscape, highlighting the reddish hue of the rocks and the silhouette of the forested Rocky Mountains on the horizon. The Siamese Twins Trail on the west side of Garden of the Gods Park is 0.6-mile hike. The popular trail, with a 108-foot elevation gain, makes an open loop from the trailhead in Spring Canyon to the Siamese Twins, a sandstone formation with two summits. An arched opening in the Twins offers an iconic view west towards 14,115-foot Pikes Peak, which is not pictured here, making it a favourite shot for photographers. The Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is popular for hiking, technical rock climbing, road and mountain biking and horseback riding, attracting more than two million visitors a year. The park was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. When I reached this picturesque spot, two young women were taking selfies in the window. They very kindly stepped down so I could take this photograph, and then I took their photograph with their phone cameras when they returned to their perch.
