About This Design
Singapore Singlish - Bo Jio - No Invite, No Banana Key Ring
"Bo jio" literally means "no invite", and is commonly used in Singlish (Colloquial Singaporean English) meaning "Why didn't you invite me to go". It is derived from the Hokkien (a southern Fujian Chinese dialect) pronunciation of "没招". Funnily, it has the same pronunciation in Hokkien as "没蕉", where the "蕉" means "banana". In this case, "没蕉" literally means "no banana".
Therefore, this design is a pun on the words "bo jio", usually used in the context of "why never invite me go", but could also mean what has been graphically drawn - "no banana". Great as a souvenir gift from Singapore!
