Sleeping Endymion by Troy Caperton Postcard

This is a reproduction of “Sleeping Endymion”of 2016 by Troy Caperton. He was sixty-seven years old when he created this painting. It depicts the sleeping form described in the Tales of the Greeks. Endymion was a shepherd or a king who became loved by Selene, goddess of the Moon. She entreated his father Zeus to grant him eternal life so that she could love him forever. The wish was granted, but it was also decreed that Endymion would forever be asleep. Thereafter Selene visited him to gaze at his beauty every night. This painting is an oil on canvas and measures 30 by 24 inches. It is in the possession of the artist.
