Small, 4" x 5.6" Folded Note Card

Some of my favourite evenings are spent on the East Side of Leadville, CO in the historic mining district. Sundown in the Summer has incredible light and colours that make different plants and mining remnants stand out in unique ways. Nothing ever appears the same each time even though they may have been there for over a century quietly meditating during the short, alpine summers or defiantly standing up to the harsh, long winters. This particular spot has incredible views below tree line and many remnants including tin and bricks of what was most likely a wheel house or head frame that has long since been removed. Off to the side, the ore house still exists with tracks leading outside for the ore carts. Each visit makes me wonder what the stories of these miners were and if any of their descendants know how hard they must have worked as a miner in this environment.
