Snake's eye luggage tag

The name 'Janome' is derived from the pattern resembling a snake's eye, but its original form is a 'Tsurumaki' (a coil for storing备用 bowstrings) that samurai warriors used to wear during battles. After donning armor, it was attached to the left waist, hung from the waist strap of the 'Ebira' (quiver). (According to 'Kamon no Jiten' by Takasawa et al.) / Tsurumaki is a leather or rattan bow accessory used to coil bowstrings, worn by samurai warriors at their waist as a ring, resembling a snake's eye.
