I have several of these for various holidays. The surface isn't shiny jersey fabric, which is on most mouse pads and it's too slick nor does it have stitching on the sides that you can feel with your wrist. I prefer a matte finish. You can buy cheaper black mouse pads in solid black, but you get pay for.
