The Bishkek Circus was constructed in 1976, during the golden age of the Soviet Union. Back when Bishkek was named Frunze, the city shared Communist style design elements with other Soviet Republics. Indeed, the Bishkek Circus is similar to other Circus buildings East of the Iron Curtain. Bishkek's Circus is still in use, and the building is a popular destination with visiting tourists. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan is home to many fine examples of Brutalist and Modernist architecture and design.
