Spiritual Communion continues to be practiced in some of the the Protestant religions, such as the Lutheran, Anglican Communion, and Methodist churches. The prayer has been especially useful to Christians in times of persecution, such as the abolition of religion under Lenin during the Cold War, and in times of plagues such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
