Spiritual Yin and Yang Oriental Chinese Symbol Tapestry

Spiritual Yin and Yang Oriental Chinese Symbol Tapestry

In Chinese cosmology, yin and yang refer to opposing yet interconnected forces. Together these form a cosmological cycle which unites all matter in the universe - these energies being known as the 'great poles' in this view. Taoism symbolises yin and yang with a symbol known as Taijitu (also known as The Great Peace or Grand Supreme). This term originates from the ancient wuji symbol, an yin-yang representation that emphasizes unity before duality in the universe. Yin and yang are seen as opposing forces that influence everything around us. The yin side is dark, passive, feminine; while the yang side is bright, active and masculine. When yin and yang are in balance, all aspects of life are at their optimal performance. Conversely, when these forces are out of harmony, illness may arise. The yin and yang theory is believed to be the origin of many Asian traditions, such as Chinese philosophy, Daoism, Zen Buddhism and more. It also influences astronomy and astrology as well as Chinese medicine research. Traditionally, yin and yang were described as the shadowed and sunny sides of a hill. Yin is associated with earthiness, femaleness, darkness, passivity, the night sky and age; while yang stands for suniness, light activity and penetration. Chinese cosmology relates the four seasons to an annual cycle of birth and death, with each new stage ushering in a new stage in human development. This concept underpins their view of the universe as an endless cycle of life and death that occurs throughout every season.

This tapestry came exactly how the picture looked. Everyone loved it! We put it behind our gift table at our no wrap shower display so it was center of attention. I got it dry cleaned just to make it look crisp as well! Printing was perfect and clear
